President Obama Visits the U.S. Chamber

Feb 7, 2011

Abby Phillip writes in today’s POLITICO:

"the stakes could not be higher for the president’s speech to the nation’s largest and most influential business lobby," today.  "It’s a rare visit by him to the Chamber, and perhaps the highest-profile move he’s made in a series of overtures to Wall Street and corporate leaders since last fall."

Indeed, today is a special day for the Chamber as we welcome President Obama for a midday speech about creating jobs and growing the economy. We’re very pleased and honored to host him.

The President, through his outreach, through his recent appointments, through some of his recent actions such as compromising on taxes and moving ahead on trade, has taken some welcome steps of late.

We anticipate that he will deliver a positive message of partnership and collaboration with the business community to fix our struggling economy. We welcome that message. As we’ve said all along, we are ready to get to work with this Administration and Congress on tackling our nation’s job challenge.

Watch a live webcast of the speech beginning at 11:30am EST at www.uschamber.com, or follow along on Twitter @chamberpost.
