Many people put mobile devices on their Christmas lists, and Santa delivered. Flurry Analytics estimates that 17.4 million new iOS (Apple) and Android devices were activated on Christmas Day, 2.5 times the number that took place on Christmas Day 2011.

Also, according to the Pew Research Center, 25% of Americans own a tablet computer.
This is good news for the app economy. Earlier this year a study found that 466,000 jobs were created since 2007 because of these programs. Millions of new gadget owners loading up on apps and games should mean continued growth.
Did you get a tablet computer or smartphone for Christmas? What app did you download immediately?
