On June 22, the Brazil-U.S. Business Council and the Wilson Center’s Brazil Institute will host Governor Geraldo Alckmin of the State of São Paulo. Governor Alckmin’s visit to DC and address at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is yet another sign of the importance of the bilateral relationship between our two countries.

São Paulo is Brazil’s largest state in terms of economic output, representing 33% of the country’s GDP. It is home to the country’s financial sector and is one of the largest industrial hubs in the region.

The United States is a key trading partner for the State of São Paulo. In 2011, São Paulo imported $14.7 billion from the U.S. and around 10% of the state’s exports were destined for the U.S. market.

We are honored to have Governor Alckmin meet with us tomorrow and look forward to the continued partnership between the State of São Paulo and the United States.
