Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker
Thank God for his victory. And it is so much more than “just” for Wisconsin.—Karen Lee Marzak via Facebook
You did not back down, Mr. Walker, and it paid off.—Rick Hilburn via Facebook
Good for you, Mr. Walker! Rooting for you from the great state of Michigan—neighbor from the Midwest. Keep up the good work!—Tamara M. Smith via Facebook
The media fell for [Gov. Walker’s] scam, hook, line, and sinker. Now, he’s planning to overrule the doctorate-degreed attorneys on the U.S. Supreme Court by not allowing the health care law to be enacted in Wisconsin.—Maerzie via FreeEnterprise.com
The recall was a large taxpayer mistake and should never have happened in the first place. You don’t try to fire someone for doing the right things and turning his state around from fools that think they shouldn’t have to pay their fair share and want Obamacare on top of everything else they can get for free! So thank God you have a man like Walker who is willing to stand up for the 99 percenters who actually work hard and pay their own way in life!—Douglas via FreeEnterprise.com
College Education
Every company in the present economy is holding the line on costs except U.S. colleges. They still use antiquated concepts for their staff such as tenure, in which they are stuck keeping Ph.D. teachers no matter now good or bad they teach, and other expensive costs. Rather than students and parents paying more and more, how about colleges cutting costs or even reducing costs and giving their consumers a break?—Larry Roark via Facebook
The problem is that unions don’t function well at the college level, so there isn’t the protection from said unions. Do you realize profs have to write or perish? In order to have time to write, they have teaching assistants [teach] for them.—Darcy Gray via Facebook
Nick Akins, CEO of American Electric Power
Mr. Akins, if you want to win this battle, you have to hit hard with facts. Start with MACT, designed to reduce mercury in the air. Coal power plants put 0.5% of the mercury in the air. Eliminating 45% of America’s power generation to reduce mercury emissions by 0.55% is absolutely ridiculous. How many people would lose their jobs? Don’t fall for scare tactics; hit back with facts. Mr. Akins, I will ask you to take it a step further. If EPA’s ultimate goal is a world without fossil fuels, then show the agency what that would be like. Take all fossil fuels offline. Let’s see how well that goes. Your industry does far more good than harm. BTW, the Congressional Record shows that EPA’s own special witness admits that MACT will have no effect on atmospheric mercury levels. EPA is factually out of line.—whitehat211 via FreeEnterprise.com
