Ah, spring. A time of birds chirping, flowers blooming anew, and a 5% increase in retail foot traffic compared to last year, according to this very spring-like infographic on Intuit’s blog.
Using statistics from Planalytics, Bloomberg, Career Builder and Gallup, Intuit finds that the unseasonably warm March this year has this spring already shaping up to be a good one for several industries, including those selling lawn and garden supplies (up 39% in year-over-year sales), shorts (23% increase), live plants (10% increase), t-shirts (up 8%) and sandals (up 4%).
It seems that spring just makes everyone feel better, including small business staff. One in three workers say they tend to have a happier disposition when it’s sunny or warm outside.
So get out there and enjoy the spring – before summer heat drives people back into the arms of air conditioning!
