Karen Harbert, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for 21st Century Energy (Energy Institute) talked to Fox Business about a new IHS report that found that 1.7 million jobs are being supported by shale oil and natural gas development this year with 3.5 million total jobs expected to be created by 2035.
The Lonely Conservative notes the positive impact of this energy boom beyond jobs:
Thanks to the natural gas boom, carbon emissions are decreasing, electric prices did not rise as much as expected and natural gas will help to moderate electric prices into the future.
Without the shale oil and natural gas development, the Energy Institute's 2011 Energy Security Risk Index would have risen much higher than it already did.
