Capital One is a finalist for the Military Spouse Employment and Mentoring Award for demonstrated leadership in supporting military spouses in their search for meaningful employment in the private sector.
The courageous men and women of the U.S. military operate highly advanced equipment and technology, manage extremely complex supply chains and logistics challenges, and lead teams in tremendously stressful situations. Exactly the types of employees you want working for your organization, right? Unfortunately, many vets are having difficulty finding employment, especially recent vets who served in Afghanistan and in Iraq, as this chart illustrates.

Nevertheless, many employers do recognize the value of hiring a hero, and their commitment has helped make a difference in veteran and military spouse employment. Twenty-five of these organizations were named finalists for the 2nd Annual Hiring Our Heroes awards. The winners of each of the five awards named below will be announced at the 2nd Annual Lee Anderson Hiring Our Heroes Awards Dinner at the Chamber on November 14, 2012.
