One hundred U.S. small businesses received approximately $12 billion in government contracts in 2006, according to a recent report by the U.S. Small Business Administration. That amount represents approximately one-sixth of all federal small business contracts in 2006, the SBA said.

The "Top 100 Small Business Government Contractors" report by the SBA also reflects new certification rules for small businesses and lists companies who no longer comply with that size definition. Twenty-six companies who are on the list are no longer qualified for small business status they because outgrew the size standard or were acquired by larger companies.
