Chamber Praises Health IT Management Bill
Jun 30, 2007
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce commended members of Congress last week for introducing legislation to help manage electronic health records through the creation of a series of credit union-like entities.
In the July 12 letter to Reps. Dennis Moore (D-Kan.) and Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), Chamber Executive Vice President Bruce Josten praised the two members for their leadership in developing H.R. 2991, the Independent Health Record Trust Act of 2007. The bill would allow patients to submit their medical records to be managed electronically by health-record trusts. In turn, these trusts would ensure the security, confidentiality, and privacy of the medical information.
