Chamber Coalition Joins Spellings in Calling for NCLB Renewal

Aug 31, 2007

The U.S. Chamber-led Business Coalition for Student Achievement brought together members of Congress, the administration and the business community to highlight the importance of renewing and strengthening the No Child Left Behind Act this year.

During the Sept. 5 event, Education Secretary Margaret Spellings said she opposes congressional efforts to ease penalties for schools that don't meet No Child Left Behind targets and called on members of the coalition to "stand up against policies that say some kids just can't learn or that some kids count more than others or that if some kids are improving, its okay to let others fall behind."
