Chamber Board Elects New Chairman, Vice Chairman
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has elected a new chairman and vice chairman of its board of directors during its annual meeting this week.
Donald J. Shepard has been elected to serve a one-year term as Chamber chairman. Shepard recently completed a six-year tenure as chairman and chief executive of international insurance company Aegon NV in The Hague, Netherlands. Shepard has spent the last ten years on the Chamber's board of directors and is currently a member of the business advocate's executive committee. As chairman, Shepard will focus on trade and legal reform issues. He replaces outgoing Chamber Chairman Paul S. Speranza Jr., vice chairman, general counsel and secretary of Wegmans Food Markets Inc.
Robert S. Milligan has been elected to serve as Chamber vice chairman. Milligan is chairman of M.I. Industries, a meat and animal protein processing company headquartered in Lincoln, Nebraska. Milligan has been active with the Lincoln and Nebraska Chambers of Commerce and serves on the National Advisory Board of the Boy Scouts of America.
