Following grassroots tours, beltway ad campaigns, and press conferences, the Chamber is taking its lobbying campaign on behalf of the Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) onto the Internet. The Chamber is launching online ads in 14 targeted states to push for passage of KORUS. The goal of the ads is to generate 20,000 letters to Congress in 20 days.
What’s clear is that the Chamber’s push is working. Just last week, both the Senate Finance Committee and House Ways and Means Committee approved the Korea FTA, along with agreements with Colombia and Panama, in “mock” mark-up hearings, an important step forward.
Given that EU-Korea FTA went into force last week, we need these job-creating agreements more than ever. We need to get in the game and these 20,000 letters will help in the final push to get KORUS approved before the Congress adjourns for the summer.
Go to the U.S.-Korea FTA Business Coalition’s website (www.uskoreafta.org) for more information on the benefits of KORUS and the Chamber’s Trade Supports Jobs (www.tradesupportsjobs.com) site for district-specific trade information.
