Broad Coalition Advertises Support for Action Against Rogue Sites
Today, a coalition of 28 business groups, including some of the most job-producing industries in our economy, ran an ad in Roll Call calling for Congressional action against rogue websites--those that are dedicated to selling counterfeit goods and/or pirating copyrighted materials. These sites are stealing American jobs, costing American business billions of dollars, and posing serious health and safety risks to consumers. Tomorrow the Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to make progress on this issue by voting on the Combating Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA). Online counterfeiting and piracy is theft and must be stopped. COICA is a step in the right direction to thwart the growing scourge of these rogue websites. We hope Congress would act upon this important legislation soon.
