Taxes and Free Enterprise

Apr 21, 2010

A key element of the free enterprise system is an individual’s right to work hard and spend the fruits of that labor as they see fit. No one argues that an advanced economy like ours can exist without taxes to pay for national security, infrastructure, schools and social welfare.

But in the last 14 months we have seen the Congress pass and the President sign into law 25 separate new taxes on American citizens. That’s a total so far of $670 billion in new taxes over a 10 year period.

How can we get the Government to spend less so that we can spend more of our own money?
