When it Comes to Craig Becker, Heed the Words of (Senator) Obama

Mar 26, 2010

If recess appointed to the National Labor Relations Board, Union Lawyer Craig Becker will likely attempt to administratively "super-legislate" changes to our current labor laws, including chilling employers’ speech rights regarding union organizing elections. Mr. Becker is certainly the unions’ Plan B to backdoor Card Check, as the AFL-CIO’s Stewart Acuff said this year, "[If] we aren't able to pass the Employee Free Choice Act, we will work with … appointees to the National Labor Relations Board to change the rules governing forming a union through administrative action[.]"

As a Senator, Barack Obama had this to say about another controversial recess appointment:  "It’s the wrong thing to do.  John Bolton is the wrong person for the job.  The president is entitled to take that action, but I don’t think it will serve American foreign policy well."

Having already been rejected on a bi-partisan basis by the U.S. Senate, Craig Becker would certainly seem to be the "wrong person for the job."  Let’s hope President Obama heeds the counsel of Senator Obama next week.
