Reconciliation - An Outrage to Resist

Mar 3, 2010

Bruce Josten released the following statement today after the President's call for “up-or-down-vote” (read reconciliation) on health care:

As the Chamber has said and the American people have affirmed, it is time for Congress to start over beginning with areas of mutual agreement that will ultimately lower the cost of health insurance. Adding a few good provisions to a fundamentally flawed bill is the wrong way to reform our health care system. Trying to jam this unpopular legislation through when it affects 1/6th of the American economy with a simple majority vote is, as Senator Byrd indicated, ‘an outrage that must be resisted.’
