Health Care Bills We Can’t Afford to Pay
The Employers for a Healthy Economy and Start Over! coalitions today launched a new television ad urging Congress to begin listening to the American people and start over to get health care reform right. Some members of the coalition sum it up:
"There is absolutely no substantive improvement in the latest iteration of health care legislation from the previous attempts that have been soundly rejected by the business community and the American people. All the problems discussed with previous versions are true of this bill: tax increases, Medicare cuts, job killing mandates, and an almost willful neglect for cost containment." - Bruce Josten, U.S. Chamber
"The Administration and the Congressional Majority have rejected any number of reasonable health care reform ideas, ignored the public which opposes their mission, and now threatens to twist the rules of the Senate to effectively silence all dissent. It is time for Washington to start over and get it right." - Jade West, National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors.
"This latest of a long series of arbitrary deadlines still can’t hide the fact that Congress has the wrong prescription for health care reform." - Steve Pfister, National Retail Federation.
