Protesting Jobs and Apple Pie

Nov 19, 2009

There’s a story in today’s SF Chronicle that paints a fairly incomplete picture of our efforts on climate change and job creation, despite my best efforts to provide that information to the reporter, Kelly Zito. We had an email exchange, wherein I sent her the transcript of Chamber CEO Tom Donohue’s fairly unequivocal statement that "We, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, support strong action on climate change." Yet somehow, she deferred to someone from the Sierra Club's Clean Energy Solutions Campaign to characterize our position.

So to invoke the late Paul Harvey if you’re interested in the rest of the story click herehere and here. Maybe not as good as the yarn being woven by the protestors – all with their own political agenda – but factual and true nonetheless. For our part, we will continue to be the voice of business large and small, and will continue to support policies that encourage job creation and oppose all legislative and regulatory efforts that have the opposite effect.
