Vote for the Most Ridiculous Lawsuit of the Month
By now, everyone has heard the one about the D.C. judge who sued his dry cleaners for $54 million for allegedly misplacing his pants. Unfortunately, ridiculous lawsuits targeting small businesses and average families are all too common – and a sign of a lawsuit system run amok.
To help draw attention to these frivolous lawsuits – and the need for reform – the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform is gathering them on its website, www.FacesOfLawsuitAbuse.com, and allowing visitors to vote for America's Most Ridiculous Lawsuit each month. Click here to cast your vote on the March nominees.
And the nominees are…
- The man who sued a store for faulty locks on the bathroom stall door after one hit him.
- The woman who sued Disney World for not allowing her to use its thrill ride more than 4 times per day.
- The illegal immigrants who sued the rancher who stopped them as they trespassed on property on the border.
- The golfer who sued a golf course after he was struck by his own ball.
At the end of the month, we will announce the "winner" of the poll on ChamberPost.
The winner of February’s Most Ridiculous Lawsuit poll skated to victory by a nearly 14-point margin. Congrats to the lawsuit filed by a West Virginia man who sued a restaurant chain after the cover of its "unreasonably dangerous toilet paper dispenser" popped open and oversize rolls of toilet paper fell on his right hand, "seriously" injuring it.
