Last week BCLC held its first national economic recovery planning conference call. The call was intended to 1) provide relevant and timely economic updates, 2) explain replicable partnership strategies in place now to help communities weather the recession, and 3) uncover needs and opportunities for future investment and partnership among the business, nonprofit, and government sectors. Speakers included:

  • Stephen Jordan, BCLC Executive Director
  • Margaret Cantrell, Office of the House Majority Whip
  • Admiral Steven Smith, Small Business Administration
  • Tim Dubel, Microsoft and the Elevate America initiative
  • Kevin Dow, Philadelphia Office of the Mayor

Our website has a summary of the discussion. It was brought to our attention by Ms. Cantrell that President Obama is seeking stories on how the stimulus package is being put to good use in local communities. If you have information to share, please leave your comments here.
