At this 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month I would like to give thanks to the more than 23 million living U.S. veterans and to those who are no longer with us.

Tomorrow, the National Chamber Foundation will hold an event to educate businesses and organizations on how they can give thanks to the men and women who have served in our nation's armed services. It is called "Business Steps Up: Hiring Our Heroes" and it will explore how "we can train and employ our veterans and their families as they transition back into the workforce and provide ongoing employment opportunities to our reservists and National Guard."

Admiral Michael G. Mullen, USN, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Lieutenant General Jack C. Stultz, Chief of the Army Reserve, and Commanding General, United States Army Reserve Command will provide insight into the problems facing veterans as they transition and a vision for doing things better. Moderating a panel will be U.S. Chamber Small Business Council Member Ted Daywalt, CEO of VetJobs.com.

It is not too late to register for this important event. If you are unable to make it, you can watch online starting at 8:30am. I encourage you to learn how to do your part.
