Card Check and Mexico
As Eric posted yesterday the U.S. Chamber has released a new ad called "Meet Bill." It shows just who exactly would be making workers choose under the "Employee Free Choice Act."
I was looking at the video last night and I noticed that it was "#18 - Most Viewed (Today) - Nonprofits & Activism - Mexico" on YouTube. Reunión Guillermo!
Hmmm...union thug...card check...Mexico...why does that ring a bell? Oh right!
It was in a letter to the government of the Mexican state of Puebla in 2001 that Rep. George Miller made a strong case against card check: "we feel that the secret ballot is absolutely necessary in order to ensure that workers are not intimidated into voting for a union they might not otherwise choose"
Oddly enough Miller is sponsoring the card check bill here in the United States. I guess the promise of a perpetual majority is too strong to worry about such a thing as workers' rights.
