Hail to the Syracuse Chiefs

Aug 24, 2008

What a great evening the VoteForBusiness Bandwagon to Minneapolis had at Alliance Bank Stadium, home of the Syracuse Chiefs.  The Chiefs are a minor league affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, and not only were the people of Syracuse excited to see us and sign up with the Chamber, but the Chiefs were wonderful hosts.

The local citizens covered many subjects, but were particularly proud of the mall construction going on; when completed, it is planned to be the nation’s largest.  Everyone was very quick to bring up the green construction of the building, with the building plans set to include wind turbines and a living roof.  Energy was clearly on the minds of the people of Syracuse.

I have to give a special thanks to the Syracuse Chiefs, particularly Mike Voutsinas, Director of Promotions, for the ballclub. Mike gave us a special "Bandwagon Parking Spot" right in front of the stadium that helped the Chamber sign up a HUGE portion of the crowd.

As if Mike had not already done enough for us. He also allowed the U.S. Chamber's own Shannon Dibari -- below scoping out the field before the game -- to throw out the ceremonial first pitch for the game. True to Chamber form Shannon did not disappoint and burned a fastball low and away to Blue Jays first round draft pick Travis Snider.

We met a crowd of great people and a few have even told us that they'll meet us tomorrow when the bandwagon will be featured at the New York State Fair. Tonight I'll sleep all snug in my bed, while visions of funnel cakes and deep-fried Oreos dance through my head.
